1969 Pontiac Firebird Ram Air IV
For Pontiac enthusiasts, the Ram Air package ranks at the top of the list for most. Several variations and horsepower ratings were produced during the production runs. Some are very common, others very rare. This 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible was factory ordered with the top of the line Ram Air IV engine. At first thought, you might think, so what or no big deal. Well, in the 1969 Pontiac Firebird production run, the Ram Air IV option was an extremely rare option as only 102 total Firebirds were produced with that engine. In the Firebird convertible body style, of that 102 produced, only 17 convertibles were built with the Ram Air IV engine option. In addition, this Firebird is equipped with a close ratio 4-speed transmission, making it 1 of 12 total Ram Air IV Firebird convertibles with a four speed manual transmission. If you want to break this down even further, you have to consider how many of these Ram Air IV convertibles were produced in Warwick Blue with a white interior and console with a black convertible top? This convertible is also optioned with much needed positraction rear end, an AM/FM radio, Rally II wheels, deluxe steering wheel, tinted windshield, custom trim package, and a ride and handling package with special shocks and springs.
So, how rare is this 1969 Pontiac Firebird Ram Air IV convertible? Only the folks at the Pontiac Historical Services (PHS) know for sure. Anyway you look at this Firebird, it’s absolutely stunning and I would love to take this car out for a leisurely drive.
