Mecum Auctions listed this 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge and this is what they had to say about it: “Here come da Judge, Here come da Judge,” a tagline made famous by comedian Flip Wilson on Rowan and Martin’s hit NBC TV show “Laugh In” from 1968-72 and transferred over to one of the most famous late-‘60s muscle cars ever to turn a tire, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge. This car is one of 6,883 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge’s built in the first year of production and is documented by the original paperwork. Of course, Judge’s eye-popping Carousel Red—looks more like orange—paint with yellow, black and orange tape graphics, blackout grill, hideaway headlight doors, electric hood-mounted 8,000 RPM tachometer etc., was your first clue that this wasn’t your “average” GTO; that is if any Pontiac GTO could be called average. Powered by a 10.75:1 compression, Code L74 400/366 HP—at 5,100 RPM—“Ram Air” 4-barrel V-8 with dual exhaust and backed by a Hurst T-handle-shifted 4-speed manual gearbox, this Judge features power steering, power front disc brakes and Polyglas redline-wrapped Rally II wheels. This particular 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge features a Parchment interior with black accents and black carpets, AC Delco AM pushbutton radio, center console containing the aforementioned Hurst shifter, rallye clock and day-night mirror.
Outside, the Judge features a left-hand remote side mirror, fully functional Ram Air hood, and functional—at speeds in excess of the legal speed limit—wall-to-wall rear deck spoiler. Inside the trunk you will also find the original trunk mat and spare-tire cover. This GTO Judge comes with PHS documents, the original bill of sale—which states that the car was originally sold new in Cornelia, Georgia—and its original warranty booklet.
