1969 Chevelle SS 396
This 1969 Chevelle SS 396 is optioned with the L78 375 horsepower 396 engine, an M21 4-speed transmission and original code KK 4.10 positraction rear end. Its Daytona Yellow paint which was only available in the SS 396 line makes this car look absolutely stunning with the factory optioned vinyl roof and the factory SS wheels with raised white lettered Goodyear Polyglas tires. It also features power brakes, a black cloth bench seat, an AM radio and a rear antenna.
It was delivered to Placke Chevrolet of St. Louis, Missouri on March 24, 1969 and it was sold to Broadie and Sallie Sampson on June 23, 1969. The Sampsons enjoyed this Daytona Yellow SS 396 for three years and in 1972 they decided to gift this Chevelle to their son Ray. Then at some point this SS 396 was transformed into the typical seventies street machine trim for a while.
Over the years, this Chevelle SS 396 has remained in Missouri and Illinois for its entire life and it has recently been treated to a full restoration by Dan Vasic, Greg Cullum, and its owner Jody Schmeisser with the paint and body work being done by John’s Auto Body of Imperial, Missouri. The restoration was done with 90% all original or NOS parts to give this Chevelle SS the proper restoration that it deserved.
The best part is that this Chevelle SS 396 is documented with a complete owner history back to the original owners who kept the original MSO, Manufacturers Statement of Origin from when this car was purchased new. Now that’s the sign of a real car family!
This great looking Daytona Yellow Chevelle SS 396 was photographed at the 2016 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, where each and every year you will come across muscle cars with incredible histories.
