Dear Editor: I read John Nichols? Feb. 17 column, ?Manufacturing policy mistakes haunt U.S.? with great interest, but disagreed with some of what was said. Many people say they buy ?American-made? cars to keep the profits in this country and because they believe they are every bit as reliable as ?foreign made? cars. Unfortunately they are wrong on both counts.
