This Day 2 1966 GTO is owned by a female Muscle Car enthusiast named Jennifer. Her nickname is “4-Speed Chick.” She purchased this car on October 30th, 2003, and raced it 2 weeks later. She was looking to purchase a Pontiac for quite some time and found this one that was not only in her price range but was also completely finished.
The car was completely Day 2 before Day 2 was a thing! At first, when Jennifer saw the paint scheme it took her a little while to appreciate it. It was House of Kolor Kandyapple Brandywine with pearl graphics and scallops. The designs were done in the late 60’s / early 70’s earth tones. Such as browns, golds and greens. When she purchased this Day 2 GTO the paint was crazed and chipped and showed it’s age. The chrome was decent but there was a lot of it and it also was starting to dull.
In 2007 she finally found someone capable to replicate the paint on the car. Marco Flores painted this car in a cinderblock garage on a part time basis. It took 2 years to do the paint and body.
When the paint job started, it morphed into a frame on restoration. The engine was pulled to paint the firewall, so she decided to rebuild it. And so on, and so on, and so on! That is why the car is named Pandora!!! When the car came back from Marco in 2009, it took her 3 years to re-assemble the car.
Jennifer insists that she could not have done any of this without her soul mate Mike. He was very patient with her during the entire restoration process. He taught her how to wire the car and how to spec out the engine!
Under the hood, the first thing that you see is the homemade ram air pan and a homemade cool can.
The car has a .060 400 cid, 428 heads, Ram Air IV cam, Holley Street Dominator intake, M/T valve covers, and a Fram inline fuel filter and a Stewart Warner electric fuel pump . It has an M21 4 speed transmission with a Hurst shifter, two drive shaft loops, a scattershield, ½” aluminum fuel line, trunk mounted battery, welded tow tabs (chromed), ladder bars, and a Chevy 12 bolt rear end with a M/T finned rear end cover.
Also, the inner fender wells are painted in Kandy Kolor with a matching smooth firewall. The chromed items include the hood hinges, cowl, hood scoop insert, and all attaching hardware up front. The side glass is etched, it rolls on Cragar wheels, and has air shocks in the rear.
